Learned a lot @ FOSS4G-NOR 2016

Learned a lot @ FOSS4G-NOR 2016

Every year the open source geospatial community descends upon Oslo to join forces and celebrate free and open source software for geospatial data. This year was no different, and around 100 attendants from far and wide came to Felix conference center to exchange ideas and experiences during a full day the 1st of September, 2016.

We learned a lot from the talks; from what's going on with QGIS from Anita Graser, to detecting features in satellite imagery with open source machine learning tools from Rune Aasgaard, what's going on in Denmark's open source scene, and some crazy weekend project from Iván Sánchez Ortega.

We also got to present our own little corner of the GIS world, the technology that goes into Mapic:

We even got some nods on social media, always appreciated!

All in all, it was a lot of fun, meeting like-minded people and learning immensely from each other - which is exactly what open source is all about!

Thanks for this year, everybody! See you again next year!

Mapic @ FOSS4G-NOR 2016

Mapic will be at FOSS4G-NOR 2016, and we're very much looking forward to all the interesting talks. We'll also do a short presentation of our own software stack, hoping to get some feedback from the community.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday!
